We study the resonant synaptic propagation of spikes with respect to the period of an external pulse train, due to the phase sensitivity of neuronal subthreshold oscillations. Phase transition curves are used to predict this resonant behavior when the relaxation time towards the limit cycle is faster than the external period. We also consider an additional time scale, in the form of a synaptic delay, which appears to be relevant in the presence of electrical coupling. Additionally, we study the propagation of this resonant behavior through a chain of neurons. |
