Intramolecular double-hydrogen tunneling was investigated for porphycene. Low temperature conditions were warranted by doping of single molecules into superfluid helium nanodroplets. The investigation of fluorescence excitation and dispersed emission spectra and the highly dissipative environment allowed to determining the tunneling splitting, mode selectively. The investigation includes singly and doubly deuterated porphycene. Whether distinguishable or indistinguishable particles the experiment revealed only concerted tunneling of the two hydrogen nuclei. |
