Electrons in bubbles can absorb light and be excited to higher energy states, eventually causing large changes in size and shape to the e-bubble. Within density functional theory, we have nvestigated the decay of e-bubbles in 1P states, which may proceed by radiative or non-radiative (sound emission) processes, and the appearance of "baby bubbles" around the two lobes of the 1P electron probability density. |
