Ballistic vs. normal transport in disordered Heisenberg models

We investigate the transport of magnetization and energy in a chain of spin-1/2 particles interacting via the Heisenberg interaction. The system is integrable whenever clean and restricted to nearest-neighbor interactions. A transition to chaos is observed by adding on-site disorder or/and by including next-nearest-neighbor interactions. We verify that ballistic transport is associated with integrability and normal transport emerges in the transition to chaos.
