A growing body of experimental evidence has appeared in recent years which suggests the importance of interaction effects and collective phenomena for the understanding of low-temperature physics in glasses. The present workshop is intended to bring together researchers conducting theoretical and experimental investigations on different aspects of glassy low-temperature physics, in the hope of promoting an exchange of ideas on these recent developments. Our aim is to discuss where the explanatory limits of the idea of independent tunneling systems really are, thereby to gain a deeper understanding of the nature of the open problems in the field, and to thoroughly assess recent theoretical attempts at solving them.
