International Workshop on
Physics of Biological Systems

June 19 - 23, 2006

Scientific coordinators:
Jonathon Howard (MPI-CBG, Dresden)
Anthony Hyman(MPI-CBG, Dresden
Frank Jüicher(MPI-PKS)

Organisation:
Nadine Baldes (MPI-PKS Dresden, Germany)

Systems biology is a rapidly evolving field within biology. It aims at understanding complex biological processes through the interplay of a limited number of different types of components. Physics provides powerful concepts and tools for the analysis and description of such complex interacting systems. Interdisciplinary research between physics and biology is expected to open new directions of research in systems biology.
We will bring together leading scientists working on biological systems and complex cellular processes. In an interdisciplinary setting between physics and cell biology and between experiment and theory new developments and future challenges will be discussed.

List of invited speakers:
U. Alon (Rehovot), M. Bornens (Paris), M.-F. Carlier (Gif-sur-Yvette),
R. Carthew (Evanston), T. Duke (Cambridge, UK), S. Eaton (Dresden),
