The department of Biological Physics invites applications for Ph.D., postdoctoral, and guest scientist positions. We seek strong candidates with background in theoretical and/or computational physics and serious interest in the study of biological systems.

The Max-Planck Society is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals. The Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.

PhD Positions

Candidates for Ph.D. student positions are encouraged to contact the director or one of the group leaders to discuss available positions and possible PhD projects. The PhD students in the department of Biological Physics are integrated into the International Max Planck Research School for Cell, Developmental and Systems Biology, through which additional positions may be available in its yearly call for applications.

Postdoctoral Positions

Postdoctoral positions are administered through the Institute's Visitors' Program. Candidates are encouraged to contact the director or one of the group leaders before applying, but applications should be submitted according to the Visitors' Program Instructions.

The Center for Systems Biology Dresden (CSBD) offers further postdoctoral positions via the ELBE postdoctoral program.
