PhD in Applied Mathematics / Complex Fluids at Loughborough University

There exist possibilities to do a PhD funded through a scholarship that covers tuiton fees and living expenses for 3-4 years. The PhD by research will be done at the School of Mathematics in the field of 'Structure formation in and Microfluidics of Complex Liquids' (nanoparticle suspensions, liquid crystals, polymer blends) using various analytical and numerical techniques. For more information about the field of research explore my website further. Precondition is a very good diploma in Applied Mathematics or Theoretical Physics or a similar MSc degree. Applicants have to be citizens of or permanent residents in the European Union or have to be able to finance their tuition fees themselfes. Please send your resume, copies of diploma/certificates, contact details of two persons that would write letters of recommendation, and up to one page describing your general research interests by email to me. Applications should be sent as a single pdf file as soon as possible. Starting date: four possibilities each year. Proceedure: You apply with me and if I accept you as a student I guide you through the application proceedure of Loughborough University.

There exist many possibilities for grants for PhD studies or Postdoctorial projects (EU, UK, or outgoing grants of your country). I am always happy to discuss research projects and tutor PhD candidates or Postdocs in my wider field of interest. Please send me your CV, list of publications, and up to one page describing your general research interests and up to three scientific papers.
