Intermittency in weak wave turbulence: random, bursty events in an
otherwise self-similar turbulent sea;
Risk Analysis and science policy.

Weak-Wave Turbulence: A Tragic Super-hero of Turbulence Theory
(postscript
or
pdf)
Chapter 3 from
Highlights of Mathematical Physics Eds. A.Fokas,
J.Halliwell, T.Kibble and B.Zegarlinski, CUP, UK 2002 (This essay
won first prize in a competition organized by the International Congress
on Mathematical Physics 2000 held at Imperial College, UK)
Intermittency in Weakly Turbulent Surface Waves
(poster--2003) (This is an A4 version of the A0 poster)
Adding Functions. Here's a link to an A4 version of the A0 poster and here is a link to a more printer-friendly version of the material. This lesson, aimed at 5th/6th grade students, won a prize from the 2004 AAAS/Subaru Lesson Writing Competition. Here are some photos from the poster session at the conference.
Writing Theorems is a lesson aimed at 10th graders and won the 2005 AAAS/Subaru Lesson Writing Competition. Click on the name for a .pdf version of the lesson.
The Gift of Teaching. This lesson demonstrates the powers of
teaching as a learning tool to students of calculus. This poster won the
2006 AAAS/Subaru Lesson Writing Competition. Special thanks go to my
collaborator Dr. Mary Ellen Lennon.
See the Frauenkirche in Dresden, Germany get its final touches.
