research interests:

The main topic of my research is the application of wave-function based quantum chemical correlation methods to solid.

Together with other scientists (Prof. H. Stoll, Stuttgart, Prof. P. Fulde, Dr. K. Doll, Dr. M. Dolg, Dr. K. Rosciszewski) I have developed the method of increments to calculate the ground state properties of solids with quantum chemical accuracy. The method is applied to different types of solids, such as covalent bounded semiconductors or ionic bounded insulators including transition metal oxides and rare gas crystals. Recently I have extended the method to metallic and strongly correlated systems and can now investigate the metal-insulator transition with in real systems quantum chemical accuracy.
