So far, theoretical and experimental studies on dipolar condensates have largely focused on the system of polarized dipoles. In this talk, I will discuss the effects of the dipolar interaction in a system of spinor condensates. The dipolar interaction couples the spin and the orbital degrees of freedom. The interplay between the short-range spin exchange interaction and the long-range dipolar interaction gives rise to an extremely rich set of phenomena. I will show how the dipolar interaction affects the static and dynamical properties of the spinor condensate. |
